Originally from Lima, Peru, Dr. Jose Leon began his academic journey at the University of Peruana Cayetano Heredia, where he earned his medical degree. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Pursuing a specialization in rheumatology, Dr. Leon completed his fellowship at Louisiana State University.

Dr. Leon has dedicated many years to practicing hospital medicine in Alabama. His extensive professional experience ensures exceptional patient care and a unique comprehensive approach to treating the diverse conditions encompassed by rheumatology. He is proud to be an active member of the Auburn/Opelika community, where he prioritizes his patient’s care.

Outside of his professional commitments at Premier Rheumatology of Alabama, Dr. Leon enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. His hobbies include traveling, soccer, swimming, cooking, and solving puzzles.
